Help your landscape beat the summer heat!

Help your landscape beat the summer heat!

This week marks the start of the summer solstice, summer is officially upon us! Colorado is known for having some unique challenges for gardeners, and the temperature is turning up! What does that mean for our yards and gardens?

Colorado is both dry and sunny and has limited, natural water available, all of which present challenges to the landscape and garden. These issues cause stress to the plants.

Make sure you are choosing the right plants for our climate.

Maintain a consistent and smart watering plan - use smart watering habits such as watering outside of the hours of 10 AM - 6 PM.

Water your plants and lawn only 3 days per week, implementing strategies such as cycle and soak to reduce water runoff and to promote deeper rooting.

Gardening and yard care is not an exact science. It is supposed to be fun and rewarding to see your hard work come to life. Set your expectation that some of your processes will be trial and error. Keep growing your knowledge base, learn from your mistakes and your successes, and you can build a lifelong relationship with your love for your yard.
